The owner of Casatorta, Maximilian Dreier, studied history and literature in Heidelberg, Berlin and Florence.
In the 1980s, he switched from the academic stage to the world of wine, founding „La Cantina“ in Berlin-Kreuzberg and „Kultur und Kulinaria e.V.“ for his cultural ambitions After reunification, he opened „Villa Kellermann“, the first Italian gourmet restaurant in the new federal states.
